Tartare Sauce, Beer Battered Fish n' Chips
You don’t need to go out for the best fish n chips in town, this simple, but delicious recipe will please even the toughest food critic and is a great way to feed the masses on a limited budget.
WHAT YOU NEED:
Beer Battered Chips:
6 potatoes cut into wedges large scrubbed unpeeled
2 cups vegetable oil
2 cups plain flour
375 ml beer
1 tbs lemon pepper *to serve
1 tbs salt *to serve
500ml bottle of Gold Gourmet Foods Tartare Sauce.
HOW TO PREPARE BEER BATTERED CHIPS:
Steam or microwave your potatoes for 15 minutes or until soft
Arrange your sliced chip wedges on a tray in a single layer and freeze until firm
Heat your oil in a pan over high heat and until the temperature reaches approximately 180degrees Celsius.
Mix half of your flour with the beer until they have lightly combined. *do not overmix
Dust the wedges with remaining flour and then dip into the batter.
Carefully add to the hot oil until golden brown.
Serve with lemon, salt and Gold Gourmet Foods Tartare Sauce.
WHAT YOU NEED BATTERED FISH.
2 cups plain flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup milk
1 cup water
HOW TO PREPARE THE FISH BATTER.
Mix your flour, baking powder and salt together in a large mixing bowl
Slowly add your milk, followed by your water, and mix slowly, then beat until the batter is smooth.
Dip your fish slices into the batter, allowing for excess to drip back into the bowl.
Carefully place into boiling oil and deep fry until golden brown.
Serve with Gold Gourmet Foods Tartar Sauce, a slice of lemon and salt.
